I created this beautiful image of pink flowers as a final piece for my ‘hope’ project.  The aim of the project was to experiment and create a piece of work expressing ‘hope’, using any media of choice.  The image was then produced as a postcard and copies were sold at a Relay for Life event in aid of cancer research.

These pretty, bright flowers turn their heads towards the sun – the bright side – representing life, warmth and happiness.

This is a photograph that I created for this year’s project ‘portraits’.  The aim was to produce a range of portrait photographs, manipulating them on Photoshop to create interesting effects.  I responded with this dramatic image of pouting pink lips.  The highly contrasted black and white background against the vibrant colour exaggerates the big lips especially with the other facial features covered by a scarf.

‘Portraits’ - I think this is a very interesting close-up image.  I love the way the scarf wrapped around the models head exaggerates her eyes and race.  The black and white adds elegance.

This photograph was taken for my ‘natural structures’ project.  I responded to the theme by capturing the true natural colours and detail of a real flower by taking a close-up image from a revealing angle.

This mysterious image is one of my final pieces for this year’s project ‘Seven Deadly Sins’.  I produced three final images each expressing one of the seven sins of my choice.  I responded to the task by emphasising the colour red to symbolise anger.

‘Seven Deadly Sins’ - Clearly the image symbolises the sin 'Sloth'.  Sloth is a spiritual laziness which is a way of disrespecting god and self.

'Locations Project' - From the foot of the building I was able to capture the architecture and  height of the building, whilst also allowing the viewer to visualise the trees that surround the building at it's base.

'Locations Project' -   A Silhouette reflection is captured in a roadside puddle.  The broken yellow lines striking through the image add interest and contrast.

‘Locations Project’ - Taking this photograph from a straight angle captures the way the bridge curves into the distance.  It shows off the interesting shapes and lines of the bridge as they appear to decrease in size.  The leaves scattered on to the bridge add colour, creating a beautiful, autumn effect image. 

‘Locations Project’ – The trees in this beautiful image  portray the transition from winter to spring.  The pink trees are the focal point of the picture.  They are very high in contrast, creating vibrant colour, detail and attention.  The depth of field in the picture exaggerates the pink trees even more, making them stand out against the dull coloured trees fading in to the distance.

 ‘Locations Project’ – This picture is located in Bury.  I have taken it from a particular angle to capture the repeated lines of the bars as they curve into the distance, appearing smaller and closer together.

‘Portraits Project’ -   I took this portrait picture using a film camera.  I used my darkroom techniques to create a high contrasted, good quality image.

In the 'Location Project' I had a task to create a photograph in the style of William Eggleston.  Eggleston took pictures of everyday home objects using interesting angles and colours.  This is my response.

‘Locations Project’ –  The location is the French Riviera  in holiday season.  The image portrays the location through a related object, capturing the essence of a relaxing  warm afternoon in beautiful surroundings.

Here I have scanned in two pages of my ‘Locations’ sketch book.  This shows my development work.  I created a contact sheet of all my images, then chose and circled the ones I wanted to enlarge and manipulate.
